We are also very pleased to recognize General Werther Araya Menghini with an honorary diploma.
During the past year, the IADC forged a strategic partnership with the National Academy of Political and Strategic Studies of Chile, through which, ANEPE has fully accredited the College’s academic curriculum as meeting their requirement to bestow a Master’s Degree.
With this partnership, the College has again achieved a major step forward in providing a superior level of Western Hemisphere defense and security studies. This advances and strengthens our ability to produce graduates who become critical contributors to peace, stability, governance and democracy in the Americas.
Key to this effort is the vision and contribution of an individual who made this achievement possible. General Werther Araya Menghini, of the Chilean Army, former Director of the National Academy of Political and Strategic Studies, championed this relationship with the Inter-American Defense College and yesterday, ANEPE graduated its first cohort conferring upon 40 of our staff and faculty a Master's Degree in Defense and Security of the Americas.
Although, General Araya has been assigned new professional responsibilities in the Chilean Army and is far from the academic realm, our school considers him an integral member of the College’s evolution and success. Therefore, according to our governing regulatory provisions, we recognize his achievements by bestowing upon him the Honoris Causa Diploma from the Inter American Defense College.
